Pulse Pro 5-Piece Drum Set Reviews  4 / 5 based on 1 reviewsMy parents bought this for me from Musiciansfriend.com. I think they paid ~$250.
The shells are very sturdy. I haven't had any problems with scratches on the wraps (I take good care of my drums). The hardware that came with the set is kind of light, but it stands up to a lot of weight. I loaded plenty of accessories onto the stands and they held up quite nicely.
The rim-mounts on the toms impressed me. I'm glad to see an affordable brand with care for the shells.
I'm also very pleased with MusiciansFriend for supplying a cheap drum set. They keep coming out with more Pulse add ons. Soon, I think I'm going to get the 10" tom add on.
The thing that makes me the most angry is the tom mountings. The pieces that go into the bass drum shift because of the toms' weight, so the drums are always lower than I set them. I'm also afraid the mountings will bend or my bass will crack because of the poor weight distribution.
The bass pedal left something to be desired. It was very light and didn't give me the oomph I needed. Since then, I have switched to the Pulse double bass pedal. MUCH BETTER.
The instruction sheet wasn't helpful when it came to putting the set together, but it's easy enough to figure out how drums work. ;)
Could use some help in the tom mounts, but it's a good buy for the price. Next time, I might go for the lacquer set, just for looks.
Worth the price, especially since MusiciansFriend keeps coming out with more and more accessories for Pulse. It's a good alternative to other kits around the same price, especially considering the rim-mounts on the toms and the upgrades available. Lyndsey Blythe rated this unit on 2004-09-06.
